A MEssage From The Program Director

Swedish Hospital holds Continued Accreditation with the ACGME. We are a four-year program, located in the great city of Chicago making it an ideal place to train in a Urban-Community Center.  Our mission is to train community-based, emergency medicine physician leaders with an emphasis on evidence-based and social medicine.  One of the many things that makes us unique is that each resident class works together to design, implement, and measure the outcome of a community service project, which not only aids in the medical needs of our extremely diverse community, but also allows us to understand our patient population better.  We look forward to sharing more information about our program with you.

Christine A. Patte DO, FACOEP, FACOI

Emergency Medicine Program Director

Mission Statement

Our mission is to train community-based, emergency medicine physician leaders with an emphasis on evidence-based medicine. While providing paramount health care services to the culturally diverse community that Swedish Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital serves, we will treat and care for our patients as whole persons, with dedication and commitment.

Our commitment includes a continuous re-examination of our ACGME accredited program and priorities given our community’s changing needs, so that we may remain consistent with our basic philosophy and offer the best educational experience to our future emergency medicine physicians.
