Formally Swedish Covenant Hospital, this is our home. Almost the entirety of intern year will be spent learning at Swedish, including our weekly didactics sessions. It is also home to Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Podiatry, and Pharmacy residencies. Additionally, it houses Critical Care/Critical Care Pulmonology fellowships and rotating Surgical and OB residents. The hospital is located in one of the most diverse neighborhoods of the nation's third largest city, creating one of the most comprehensive teaching hospitals. Beginning second year, residents will spend four blocks every year rotating through the St. Bernard Emergency Department. This community ED provides care to the underserved neighborhood of Englewood in Chicago. It offers residents a unique opportunity to work in a smaller, resource sparse, critical access hospital, that cares for an urban intercity population. This ED sees frequent traumas, amongst other widely varied pathologies, providing excellent experience for residents.
